Places that seem to distill civilization and history by John Bendel, Photographer

Searching and learning are the constants. I’m always looking for, well, I’m never sure what, but always in the same kinds of places. The searching is not just for a particular sight, a particular mood, but also for a way to see it. How can I approach the same things l’ve experienced before in another way? How can I wrestle the intense fascination of these places into two-dimensional images that evoke civilization and its opposite in a single panel?
